Sadly our egg production went way down this winter. We were down to one or two eggs a week from our hens. Where as in the summer we'd get a dozen every two days! It was a sad day when I had to buy eggs for the first time in years this winter.
Maybe it was because I stopped playing classical music for them? Maybe it is because our hens are getting older? Maybe it was because this winter has been so hard, cold and unrelenting?
We got electricity to the coop, the classical music is back on and they are back at it again! Our lovely Ameraucana Araucana hens a breed originally from Chili who give us the glorious green, pink and blue eggs are gearing up for Easter!
